Panagia Theotokos Church/ Icon Museum In Iskele

It was built in the 12th century. Most of the frescoes were preserved and can be seen on the walls of the church. Restorations led to unpredictable discoveries; The Virgin Mary occurred to be repainting of the 15th century. The icons represented in the museum belong to this church, some were brought from other corners of the TRNC.

Salamis Ancient City

Panayia Pergaminiotissa Church & Minia Kıbrıs Museum

The church is located in Tatlisu, was built in the 11th century during the Byzantine rule. Unfortunately, due to preservation measures the church is not permissible to enter. Other than that, the church has an interesting facade and frescoes inside were mostly removed. Miniature Cyprus is on the site and a relatively new invention, the project is featured by Tatlisu’s mayor. In the exhibition, you can see 15 models of some of the main North Cyprus Historical Attractions.


Wild Donkeys

North Cyprus is famous for its wild donkeys, which live in a natural park in the Karpas peninsula. Originally the animals were domestic, and were used by farmers because of their strength. But with the growing popularity of tractors and after 1974 conflicts many donkeys were abandoned. The government decided to collect all the stray donkeys and locate them in Karpas peninsula, where they can survive. Now, these stubborn cuties are one of the biggest tourists’ attractions, people come to the peninsula to feed them carrots and bread while taking some hilarious videos.

St. Hilarion Castle

Located in the Kyrenia Mountains between Kyrenia and Nicosia. One of the best-preserved castles in the TRNC, one of the three strongholds: St Hilarion, Kantara, Buffavento. Starting from the 10th century a monastery and church were built by Byzantines, later modified and used as a watchtower in order to defend the island from pirates. With the Lusignan period other modifications took place and even now you can notice the Gothic style of the castle from that period, during the Lusignans rule the castle was used as a summer residence. And again it was reconstructed in the 15th century by Venetians. The castle is a museum now and opened to the public, you will have to take a lot of stairs to reach the castle. That's why make sure to wear comfortable shoes, but the views from the top of the castle are breathtaking, you won’t regret climbing that high.


Golden Beach

Golden Beach is one of the best sandy beaches in North Cyprus. The beautiful landscape and astonishing views from the peninsula, what more can you wish for?
